Different laws protect the domestic maritime markets of the USA and Canada. Import of complete dredging equipment into these countries is virtually impossible. It is not the only area in the world where that happens.

Within the IHC organization, a separate business unit, IHC Holland Engineering and Renovation, cooperates with owners and yards in countries that do not allow import of dredge equipment, to construct dredges locally. The USA and Canada take a special place in the list of those countries, also because of deviating Rules and Regulations of Regulatory bodies, such as U.S. Coast Guard.

Through DTC, IHC gained a foothold and a wealth of experience in the US market and competes now in that market.

DTC supplies IHC's products for U.S.A. and Canada within the limitations of the local laws and Governing Rules and Regulations Through DTC, IHC has shown in such occasions to adapt their products effectively to local requirements, from the metric to the foot-pond-second system, from Veritas to American Bureau of Shipping, 120 V/60 cycles, AMST and IEEE Standards And DIN to ASTM materials, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, etc.
